"Those with the power to see the future can create their own paths. I cannot help you more than I have already done."
—Talia to Chris.

Talia was a powerful clairvoyant demon and a former witch. She was the third demon to hold the title of Seer. She occasionally advised other demons in exchange for souls, though her true goal was to reassemble her own soul and regain the humanity that was stolen from her. She possessed a beautiful purple amulet in the form of a flower, which housed the fragments of her shattered soul.

History[]

Becoming a Demon[]

Centuries ago, Talia was a young witch with the power of premonition. Recognizing her talent, the Seer hired demons to kill everyone in her village and told the witch the killing would stop if she became her apprentice. Talia agreed and gave up her soul to save her family, though the Seer still ordered her demons to kill them. The Seer then destroyed Talia's soul, shattering it into a million pieces. Since Talia had made a pact with a demon, a fragment of her soul ended up in Purgatory, despite the fact that the Seer did not respect the agreement.

Some time later, Talia sabotaged an attempt of her teacher to become the new Source of All Evil. Once the Seer discovered the truth, she tried to have her apprentice vanquished, forcing Talia into hiding. As she hated being a demon and not being able to feel anything, she began searching a way to reassemble her shattered soul.

The Once and Future Evil[]

When Talia foresaw Wyatt Halliwell losing control over his powers, she contacted the demon Nomed and informed him of this development for unknown reasons. As a payment for her services, she demanded a soul contained in a glowing white orb. She then informed Nomed when the time to strike was upon them.

When Nomed was vanquished and Wyatt stripped of his powers, a pleased Talia met with a mysterious demon and informed him that all went according to plan. With the Twice-Blessed stripped of his power and the sword Excalibur destroyed, the side of good was severely weakened, finally giving evil a chance to bring the forces of good to their knees.

Dealings with the Source[]

Talia was approached by a cloaked demon after he had obtained the Book of Shadows, though she was aware of his true identity as the Source. He then asked her to use a spell to resurrect past evils from the book by undoing their vanquishments like Abraxas had once done. She demanded souls, but the cloaked demon told her she would obtain as many as she desired once the task was done. Talia then summoned the Woogyman and later Shax, while her dark magic enhanced their powers to the extent where injuries sustained by their powers would be resistant to Healing.

When the demons were defeated, the Source turned on Talia and tried to kill her, but she foresaw the Halliwells coming and teleported away before they could see her. The Source confronted her weeks later after tracking her down, and revealed that he knew what she truly desired more than anything, causing Talia to hesitate. However, she told him she would not help him again and teleported away.

Helping Chris[]

Knowing that the Source would come after her again and that he was about to be coronated, Talia summoned Chris Halliwell and informed him how he could vanquish the Source. Chris later confronted her after his aunt Phoebe had been kidnapped, though Talia informed him she had no knowledge of this.

Working with Julian[]

After learning about Dahlia and her large collection of souls, Talia sought out Julian Turner and proposed to work together. She would gain the souls, while Julian would get a way to connect with his family by helping them defeat Dahlia. When Julian vanquished Merrick and his demons, Talia appeared before him once more. She offered information on how to destroy Dahlia in exchange for the key to her vault, a ruby necklace.

Although Julian felt conflicted about offering up the souls, he agreed in order to help his family. After Penny used her power to beat Dahlia, Julian swiped the necklace. The following day, the Seer appeared at his mansion and he handed it over. Knowing that due to his possession, Julian had never been with a woman, Talia proceeded to seduce him and they began a sexual relationship.

Stealing from the Morrigan[]

A while later, the Seer asked Julian to help her steal Morrigan's Grimoire, to which he agreed when he learned that it contained a spell to free Wyatt's soul. Julian initially rejected her attempts to flirt, though it soon became clear how much he felt attracted to her. At the Morrigan's lair, Julian demanded answers from the Seer in order to trust her. She then revealed her past and told him about her plan to reassemble her soul using the spells and the souls collected by Dahlia. While Julian distracted the guards, she snuck in and found what she was looking for. She was tempted to run away, though her chemistry with Julian ultimately persuaded her to keep her word.

When reuniting with Julian, the Seer had a premonition of the Morrigan attacking P3, as she had discovered the theft of her tome. and was unable to track them. The sorceress confronted the Halliwells and told them Julian and the Seer had stolen her grimoire, while also revealing they were in a relationship. The Seer handed back the tome and the Morrigan retreated, after which she revealed she had copied the spells they needed beforehand.

As the spell was written in a demonic language, the Seer offered to translate it on condition that the Halliwells let her keep the souls, though Wyatt refused to sacrifice other souls to save his own. Julian was angered by this decision, as he had done everything for his family, and left. He and the Seer returned to the Turner Mansion, where he admitted that he did not want to sacrifice those souls either. The Seer explained that the spell required an extreme amount of energy and that there was no other way. Julian then offered to channel the power of entire Warren line. He admitted his feelings for her and believed she felt the same. At that point, the Seer revealed her name to be Talia the two spent the night together.

Journey to Purgatory[]

Talia spent some time hiding from Morrigan, and in the meantime she studied the spell to recompose her soul. To make it work it was necessary to use a particularly strong fragment that would attract others, and Talia decided to use the one that had ended up in Purgatory, so she went to Julian and explained the situation. Julian wasn't very convinced that they could rob Mephisto, the lord of Purgatory, as they had done with Morrigan, but Talia told him she wouldn't help him if he didn't help her and then went and told him to contact her when he made a decision.

Shortly after, Julian agreed to help her, so the two wore clothes belonging to the damned to prevent Mephisto from sensing their intrusion. The two reached an entrance to Purgatory, and after Julian had eliminated the guard, the two entered. Talia discovered that the fragment of her soul was in the castle of Mephisto and to reach it she summoned Charon to carry them on a river of lava. When they disembarked Talia realized that Julian still had some doubts about trusting her and was hurt, although she admitted that she wasn't sure what she would do if she had to choose between getting her soul back and Julian even though she admitted to having feelings for him. The two, however, could not finish their conversation, because they were attacked by a mysterious fire-breathing creature.

Julian protected Talia from the monster, but during the escape the two were separated. Talia still managed to get to the vault, where she was joined by Julian. How Julian was acting made Talia guess that something had happened to him, but Julian put off explaining until they got out of there. Unfortunately, at that moment Mephisto arrived and trapped Julian in rock, declaring that he wanted to make a proposal to Talia.

Mephisto proposed to Talia that he would restore her soul and keep her immortality in exchange for her services, but she refused, stating that she would never bow to anyone again and freed Julian with a potion. While Julian kept Mephisto busy by throwing electric shocks at him, she recovered the fragment of her soul. Once she was done, the woman temporarily trapped Mephisto in a mirror with a spell, giving them enough time to flee. The two ran to the pier and Charon who took them to the door of Purgatory and the two escape.

After escaping, Julian and Talia returned to the Turner Mansion, where Julian wanted to know exactly what Talia felt about him. Talia, however, replied that she did not know, since she had been soulless for centuries, and that therefore she would do anything to get it back with or without him, and then left.

The Ritual[]

Some time later, Talia was contemplating the ritual when Julian attempted to reach her. Seeing he was with his sisters, she allowed him, Prue and Penny to enter her lair. The witches attempted to persuade Talia to give them the spell to free Wyatt in exchange for their help in completing her ritual. However, Talia was hesitant to trust them and refused, as she feared even the power of the Warren line would not be enough. When Penny threatened to hypnotize her, Talia banished her and Prue from the lair and put Julian to sleep with a spell.

When Julian woke up, he was chained to Talia's bed. She attempted to change his mind one last time, though Julian replied that while he loved her, he could not support her decision to sacrifice the souls. Talia left him chained, hoping he would change his mind after she had reclaimed her soul. However, Julian broke free with help from his sisters' magic and ran after her.

When he arrived, Julian saw Talia had already started the ritual and was unable to reach her due to a force field. The ritual caused Talia great pain as the spell drained away her life. When she attempted to offer the souls, Julian shattered the force field with a huge fireball, disrupting the ritual. He asked her to stop, though Talia admitted that it was too late. In order to save her from any more pain, Julian stabbed her with an athame. Talia admitted that she was scared to trust him, as she had only known betrayal in her life. When they kissed, Talia planted a premonition in his mind before erupting in flames.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • She is named after Talia al Ghul, a character from DC comics and love interest of Batman.
  • Talia is also the name of one of the muses of Greek mythology. This makes Talia one of the two characters to have the name of a muse, the other is Calliope.
  • She is partly inspired by the character Katherine from the Vampire Diaries also played by Nina Dobrev.
  • In the dark future, Wyatt seemed to know Talia. When Nomed confronted future Wyatt in the present, the latter reasoned that the Seer likely informed him.
  • Talia was killed by Julian Turner the man who loved her; sad irony the reverse has happened to Julian's father and grandfather.
  • Despite having lost her soul for centuries, Talia still had some residue of humanity: she genuinely cared about Julian and was sorry that their romance would end. Shortly before she died she also sincerely regretted not being able to trust Julian and she gave him a way to save his family, a sign that she did not hate him for ending her life.
  • Given that Bianca's death has been erased from history, Talia is currently the only female love interest of one of the cousins to die, as well as the only one not to be a warlock and to have been human.
  • Somehow Morrigan seemed to know Talia's past and ways.
  • Talia is the only character to have an individual title, featured in a story title.
  • The Source knew Talia's purpose, presumably because the first Seer had told him about her.
  • Talia is somewhat similar to Galvin Burdette from the Charmed reboot, as both were the first sexual partner of the eldest member of the protagonist family, and both died in the season 1 finale while making a vital contribution to stopping the antagonist principal. Curiously, Julian has some points in common with Macy, Galvin's girlfriend. Since the Legacy series began long before the reboot, some of these similarities are coincidental.
  • Talia has appeared or been mentioned in every story Julian has appeared in.
  • Talia somehow managed to share a premonition with Julian. She presumably succeeded because he is a telepath.
  • Talia must have been one of the most powerful and talented seers ever, given that two ancient and powerful demons like the first Seer and Mephisto, wanted to exploit her power of premonition. The Source also requested her collaboration.
